weemanIf you are visiting this site for the first time it safe to assume you have an interest in learning a martial art or at least that you want to find out more. When many people think of Martial Arts their first thoughts are of weapon wielding, fighting sensationalists, who idolise bedroom posters of Bruce Lee or David Carradine. "Grasshopper, blow out the candle"

At Elgin school of Taekwon-Do we ask you to think again and take a second look.

Anyone can benefit from and enjoy training in the art of Taekwon-Do. At Elgin School of Taekwon-Do we offer a wide variety of classes designed to suit a diverse range of people. Police, nurses, aircrew, graduates, school kids and mothers are just a few examples of those who have trained with us over the years.

Taekwon-Do offers a fantastic range of benefits, both physical and mental, which can enrich your life in many ways. Some students simply enjoy the keep-fit aspects of physical training, whether it be kicking targets or basic movements. For others its the invaluable knowledge and confidence which comes from self-defence training. The study of moral culture and traditional Korean terms and theories adds a deeper meaning for many students. The opportunity to challenge oneself through competition or striving to reach the goal of Black Belt is what keeps some inspired. For many it's the beauty of the movements in the 24 patterns and the co-ordination and concentration required to master them, which keeps them interested over the years. Whatever attracts you to Taekwon-Do, you can be sure that it will give you a sense of pride and achievement that will keep you coming back for more.

We are affiliated with the UKTA, the original Taekwon-Do organisation in the UK, part of the ITF, which was founded by Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha in 1967 after he came to the UK from Korea. Master Rhee was a student of General Choi Hong Hi, who was the founding father of genuine Korean Taekwon-Do. Visit our "About Taekwon-Do" history page to find out more. To this day Grand Master Rhee maintains an active role in the training and grading of UKTA students. Grandmaster Rhee still honours our school by travelling north to conduct Gradings and Seminars for us at our own school. To be awarded our qualifications by the man who introduced the art to the UK is an honour and privilege that only UKTA Taekwon-do students can claim.
